逞しい表情を持つ茶芯のホースレザーを厳選し、無骨さと洗練を併せ持つバランスに仕立てたハーフコート。
1930年代頃のアメリカのカーコートを参考に、当時のクラシックなムードを受け継ぎながら、現代のスタイルに馴染むようシルエットやバランスを再構築。古めかしい空気を感じさせながらも、単なるヴィンテージの再現とは異なる佇まいに仕上げられています。
素材には、力強いシボが刻まれたホースレザーを使用。動きの激しい馬ならではの躍動感を感じさせる革の表情は均一ではなく、一点一点でシボの入り方や表情が異なります。しっかりと肉厚で堅牢な革でありながら、着用時の重量を全体へ分散させるよう緻密にパターンを設計。レザー特有の動きづらさを軽減し、自然な落ち感と収まりの良いシルエットを実現しています。
さらに、表面を黒く仕上げた茶芯のレザーは、着用を重ねることで徐々に表層が擦れ、芯にある茶色が覗くように変化。黒から茶へと繋がる美しいグラデーションが現れ、着る人の動きや癖を反映しながら独自の表情へと育っていきます。
今作では、綺麗な状態から自ら着込み、革を育てていく楽しさを残すため、あえて加工を控えめに設定。年月を重ねるほどにホースレザー本来の魅力が深まっていく一着です。

A half coat crafted from carefully selected brown-core horsehide, balancing the rugged character of the leather with a refined silhouette.
Inspired by American car coats from around the 1930s, the design retains the classic atmosphere of the era while reworking the proportions and silhouette for a contemporary wardrobe. It carries a distinctly aged character without simply reproducing a vintage garment.
The horsehide is marked by bold, expressive grain, reflecting the dynamic nature of the animal itself. As a natural material, the grain and character vary from piece to piece, giving each garment a unique appearance. Although the leather is thick and highly durable, the pattern has been carefully engineered to distribute its weight across the body. This reduces the restrictive feel often associated with substantial leather garments while creating a clean, naturally draped silhouette.
The brown-core leather reveals another dimension through wear. As the black surface gradually rubs away over time, the natural brown tone beneath begins to emerge, creating a rich gradation between black and brown. The appearance continues to evolve according to the wearer’s movements and habits, developing an increasingly individual character.
For this piece, the finishing has intentionally been kept to a minimum, allowing the wearer to experience the process of aging the leather from a clean, relatively untouched state. The character of the horsehide will continue to deepen through years of wear.
The collar can also be worn standing and secured with the neck strap, emphasizing the coat’s A-line silhouette. A distinctive leather coat that brings together the strength of horsehide, the classic character of a vintage car coat, and ANCELLM’s considered approach to proportion and construction.
